WALT Award Winner – Nicole Coyne

Nicole Coyne, Social Studies teacher, is the first recipient of the Wild About Learning Technology Award. Students in Ms. Coyne’s 5th hour Ancient History course were instructed on web page development and created web pages at part of their Minor Civilization Project. The project included researching an assigned civilization, creation of several web pages and presenting their completed project to the class. WALT Award Winner - Karin Walker

Karen Walker, English teacher, uses technology in every American Studies project. Currently students are utilizing Microsoft’s Publisher to make “1780-1900 Catalogs”.   The focus of their project is on the growing young nation.   Students are required to record the vast changes, events and people of that time.   Additionally, her students use Publisher to create brochures advertising Schools of Transcendentalism and for creating visual journals.   Students will be using Windows Movie maker second semester to create Personal Leadership speeches.   Ms Walker is definitely a deserving recipient of the W.A.L.T Award!

 

Teachers who integrate technology into classroom instruction are eligible to receive a WALT Award...Wild About Learning Technology. Recipients of the award received a WALT banner to display in their classrooms.

WALT Award Winner - Marc Wolfe

Marc Wolfe, Applied Arts, Business teacher, has received the Wild About Learning Technology Award.  Students in Mr. Wolfe’s 1st and 3rd hour Marketing classes were instructed on web page development and created web pages as part of “Build a Charitable Celebrity Foundation Project.”  The project included researching a celebrity of their choice, creating a homepage and several linked web pages and presenting the completed project to the class. A sampling of student web pages are available to view as a link off of Mr. Wolfe’s own web page.

WALT Award Winners - Kate Morris and Michelle Bogan

English teachers, Kate Morris and Michelle Bogan have enhanced their Poetry Unit greatly with the addition of student poetry web pages! Students use Dreamweaver software to create a homepage and additional linking pages which provide biographical information about the poet, as well as, literary period, poetry analysis, poetic style, personal critiques and literary criticisms. These pages are published on the PHS-CC website as a link off
of their respective teacher’s webpage. Web Page creation is an important technology for students to learn for future academic and career endeavors.

WALT AWARD Recipient

Government Teachers Al Pagnusat, Justin Trovato, Darren Kobliska, Robert Dobbertin, Sara Piotrowski and John Smith have included added a new technology piece in their Mock Presidential  Election  Project.  Students responsible for communications attended training on web page development after school and created web pages advertising their party’s candidate and platform.  Students used web software to create a party homepage and additional linked pages that provided detailed information on their party’s platforms.  These pages maybe viewed on the Social Studies home page. http://learningcommunity202.org/PHS/indexsocialstudies/Index_ss_homepage/indexsocialstudies.html
