Course Overview

This course is a survey of US History that originates with a review of the founding of our nation, investigates the study of Presidential administrations, and compares major historical events and movements with a focus on the social, economic, and political aspects of America’s past.  Students will be expected to produce analytical essays and to think critically through classroom discussions.  Primary and secondary source documents, along with text, will be used

Each student is required to bring a folder, notebook paper, writing utensil, and The American Republic textbook.

Classroom Expectations


  1. Sit in your assigned seat daily until the end of class.
  2. Refrain from disruptive behavior and inappropriate language.
  3. Come to class prepared daily.
  4. RESPECT others personal property and right to an education.
     5. Follow directions the first time they are given

Grading

Grading is based on total points.  Classroom assignments and activities will include points for participation and effort.  Grades are also based on quizzes, tests, and projects.

100-90—A
89-80—B
79-70—C
69-60—D
59 and Below—F

Student Absences

If you are absent for any reason it is your responsibility to find out what the assignments were for the days you were absent.  You have one school day for each day that you are absent to make up the work.  You can only make up the work if you had an excused absence for the day.

 Late Work

Assignments can be turned in late one day for half credit.  After one day regardless of point value or reason work will not be graded and averaged in as a zero.
