Summer School and after school courses offered through the English Department
English 9 Makeup Sem. 1 (open to grades 9-10-11) Credit .50
The make-up course is designed to allow the students to pass those units they did not pass during the failed semester. The class work is completely individualized. Students are given contracts listing the required units they failed. When students have successfully completed these units, they will be finished with the course and receive the grade credit. All attendance policies will be strictly followed.

BEFORE THEY CAN ENROLL IN ANY ENGLISH 11& 12 COURSES
English 11/12 Sem. 1 or 2 (open to grades 11-12) Credit .50
This is an independent reading course designed for those 11th and 12th grade students who are either deficient in English credits or who wish to graduate early but who have completed their 9th and 10th grade English requirements. Students will select three themes and read one novel, two stories, a nonfiction article, and one of two poems centering on these themes. Assessments are in the forms of reading summaries, journal responses, and formal essays. This course is not intended to be a college preparatory course and may be taken no more than twice for credit. English 11 students will complete American Lit course work
