Plainfield South
College Application Process
1. Neatly type or print college
applications
or apply online*.
2. Write a check for the application fee if required and staple to application. Do not mail cash.
3. Complete a
“Transcript Release” form. Attach to application. This gives
PSHS permission to send
your transcript to
a college.
4. Include a stamped envelope addressed to the college with the application.
5. Bring application and all supporting
documents to your counselor.
Your counselor will check to be sure
that it is ready to
be sent before submitting it to the registrar. Make sure
application
has all required
signatures.
6. Applications ready for processing
must
be brought to Student Services a minimum of 10 days before
the specific college
application deadline to ensure that the application is on time.
7. State college applications should be
submitted before October 31, for early decision. Many state
college
programs fill
early.
8. Individual teacher
recommendations requested by a college should be given to teachers
accompanied
by a stamped, addressed
envelope made out to the college or scholarship program. Give
teachers
at
least 2 weeks notice—it
is not to your advantage to have recommendations done under time
pressure.
* Students
applying online need to
follow
the above procedure excluding the actual application. Be
sure
to print out the
verification
page at the end of the application process and attach to the “Transcript
Release"
form.
