Philosophy
Aux Sable Middle
School sponsors its
Athletic Program to provide students with
additional
opportunities for personal growth, self-discipline, skill development,
cooperation with others, creativity, and fun. Participation
in the Athletic Program is intended to
foster positive
habits and attitudes that will serve as a basis for students to lead
productive
lives as contributing citizens to our democratic society.
Activities
at Aux Sable Middle School are considered extra, voluntary programs
that
complement the regular curriculum offered to students. Through
participation in
these activities, each student may be better prepared for life by
learning
lessons not readily available in the classroom. Our
school strives to provide traditions and sportsmanship, and
each year we will rededicate ourselves to these ideals by promoting
accomplishment through hard work and citizenship through healthy
attitudes. We are fostering a legacy of
competitive spirit, teamwork, honor, and success which defines what it
means to
be an Aux Sable Bulldog.
Listed below are sports offered and

Future Fighting Irish
After her second visit to Notre Dame, Whitney Holloway was sold on her dream school
By Chris Hansen:

Whitney Holloway, just a high school sophomore,
is ready to join the Fighting Irish.
For some recruits, distance from home is a major part of the college basketball decision making process. Each has her own definition of what is close enough to home for support, yet far enough away for independence. For Whitney Holloway that perfect distance is about a two-hour drive, as the Plainfield, Ill., native gave a verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
"I really liked the fact that it's close to home," Holloway said. "It's only two hours away so my parents can come see me play."
Just a few weeks ago, before attending the Nike Regional Skills Academy in Indianapolis, the 5-foot-4 sophomore point guard from Montini Catholic High School made an unofficial visit to the campus in South Bend, Ind. It was Holloway's second unofficial visit to Notre Dame and it was all she needed to make up her mind.
"Coach (Muffett) McGraw is one of the best coaches around so I'm looking forward to playing for her," Holloway said.
Holloway, who plays her club basketball with Full Package, also valued the academics at Notre Dame and her desire to get her degree from the institution played a big part in the early commitment.
Notre Dame was chosen over Depaul, Georgia, Illinois, Middle Tennessee State, Wisconsin, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Vanderbilt. Holloway made unofficials visits to Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She had planned on making a visit to Vanderbilt but with her heart set on Notre Dame those plans changed.
The pint-sized point guard doesn't let her lack of height stop her from competing at the highest level.
"Being a small point guard, I always have to go out and prove myself," Holloway said, adding that she can't take games or even plays off to stay up with the bigger players out there.
Holloway's lack of size didn't seem to bother her at the Nike Regional Skills Academy as she was dynamite in all four sessions. She utilizes her quickness and deceptive change of direction moves as well as most elite point guards. She can go with both hands, something that could be attributed to her skills playing the drums in Rock Band.
Having already worked with a physical trainer dating back to last year, Holloway is working on adding strength and muscle to take the beating that awaits her in the Big East. She is also working on developing a more consistent mid-range game which will complement her already polished dribble penetration skills.
