Vision screening will be done annually, as mandated, for the following children: Preschool, Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 8th grade, special education, teacher referrals and new district students. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. A vision screening is not required only if a parent provides a copy of a vision exam report done within the previous 12 months. If a vision exam report is not on file at the school for your child, your child will be screened.
Students wearing glasses are not routinely instrument screened. A glasses referral letter will be sent if glasses are reported "lost" or "broken," or it has been two years since the student's last exam.
Hearing screening will be done annually, as mandated, for the following children: Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, special education, teacher referrals and new district students.
Students with hearing aids are not screened. Students with a known hearing loss, receiving services or under a doctor's care are asked to provide a copy of the yearly Audiological report.
