Author Visit

Renowned African American poetess Nikki Giovanni will visit with fourth and fifth grade students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School on Friday, October 17, 2008. Giovanni will visit the school at 1:30 p.m. to speak about her children’s poetry.

Thomas Jefferson is located at 1900 Oxford Way, Joliet.

Giovanni will present her two new books, Hip Hop Speaks to Children, and Lincoln and Douglas.

Hip Hop Speaks to Children is an anthology of poems with a CD of authors reading their own poems.

Lincoln and Douglas is a collective biography of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas.

After the presentations of her books, Giovanni will answer questions and sign copies of her works. Her visit is part of an ongoing partnership with Andersons Bookshop in Naperville.
