Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be held on April 9th and 10th with the following schedule:
Wednesday, April 9th -11 AM to 3:00 PM, and 5:00-8:00 PM
Thursday, April 10th - 4:00-7:00 PM
8th Grade Promotion Robes/Gowns
The decision to wear robes for the 8th grade promotion ceremonies at John F. Kennedy Middle School has not been an easy one. After asking for and receiving feedback from 8th grade parents and staff, and taking an actual vote of the 8th grade students, the majority has spoken in favor of not wearing robes for this year's ceremony. Therefore, the administration has chosen to support the majority, understanding that not everyone will be happy with this decision. A dress code will be enforced, and we encourage parents to please talk to their children about the formal manner of the ceremony, and the importance of dressing nicely and to look their best. Dresses, dress slacks, and nice shirts will be required for participation. Dresses cannot be halter style or strapless, and jeans are highly discouraged. If you have any questions about the appropriateness of an outfit, please contact the Kennedy administration. Our desire is to allow all of our students the opportunity to participate and to celebrate this special occasion.
The ceremony date and time will be set by the Board of Education, and the ceremony will be indoors with a limited number of tickets being provided to each 8th grade student. As a reminder, there is no reception following the ceremony, which allows each family to make their own plans with their family and friends. Look for additional information to come closer to the time.
