Chapter 8 Study Guide
In order to successfully complete
chapter 8, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the
following.
- Using
a diagram of the eye, label the structures discussed in class.
(3 coats, lens, 2 humors, ciliary
body, optic nerve, etc…)
- Using
the structures labeled in #1, state the function of each structure.
- How
do rods and cones differ? (Location and function)
- Trace
the pathway that light travels as it enters the eye and list all the
structures that it passes through in order.
- Using
a diagram of the ear, label the major structures of the outer, middle and
inner ear.
- Using
the labels in #8 state the functions of the structures of the ear.
- Trace
the path of sound waves through the ear and label all the structures that
sound passes through.
- What
is the name of smell and taste receptors combined? What are their
individual names?
- Where
are the taste receptors found?
- Where
are smell receptors found?
- Name
the 4 primary taste sensations
- Explain
how the sense of smell and taste are closely related and give an example
to prove your explanation.
