Clubs offered at Timber Ridge Middle School provide many opportunities for continued learning and making new friends. Most Clubs meet on a regular basis and accept new members throughout the school year. Explore the possibilities!

Art Club

Sponsor: Mr. Hietikko

If you like Art or being creative...if you like working with friends and having fun...then Art Club is for you! Art Club is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We will meet every other week and sometimes more when the need require. Art Club will not only help you refine your artistic and creative abilities, but it will help with team building, organizational skills, design skills and much, much more. Most of all....it's FUN!

Drama Club

Sponsors: Mr. Bardon, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Obaob and Mrs. Gato

Drama Club meetings begin in January. During initial meetings students begin to learn a wide variety of theater skills. Following auditions in February, rehearsals begin for our spring play.

Drama Club is an excellent place to refine the student’s thespian talents and to learn new skills. Drama members must make a sincere commitment, as there are numerous rehearsals. Last year 96 students participated in this exciting club.

Intramural Sports

Sponsor: Mrs. Wolseley

Timber Ridge Middle School offers five intramural sports for sixth through eighth graders. These sports are scheduled to follow the time of year when the skills for each sport have been taught in our P.E. classes. Intramurals are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Cancellations are sometimes necessary - students should listen for cancellations during announcements.

Intramural sports include:

Softball and Flag Football

November and December

Indoor Soccer

January and February

Basketball

March

Volleyball

The sponsor may choose to change the schedule of these sports. Please contact the club sponsor for more information.

Student Council

Student Council
Sponsor: Mrs. Ribich

The Student Council strives to serve the community and the student body in as many ways as possible.

Some services to the community include:

  • Collecting food for an area food pantry
  • Supporting the recycling effort at Timber Ridge
  • Donations to Timber Ridge families in need
  • Sponsoring a Hoops for Heart event to raise money for the American Heart Association
  • Raising money to add benches to our memorial garden

2007-2008 Service Learning Projects:

Pop Tabs for Meadow View (Continues all year)

Student Council members from Timber Ridge Middle School are joining with the students of Meadow View Elementary School to collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House to assist one of their students. We encourage all families to help by collecting the pop tabs. Containers are available in most ALPHA classrooms. We will continue this activitiy throughout the school year.

Operation Care Package (Project runs: October 10 - November 16, 2007)

Timber Ridge Middle School is coordinating Operation Care Package collections of powdered coffee creamer and insulated mugs for our service men and women. We will be collecting the iems starting October 10 through November 16 to ensure time for holiday delivery. We encourage everyone to help us remember and thank our service men and women who are sacrificing for our freedom.

TRMS Students Team Up to Go Green! (Continues all year)

Student Council and Computer Club (SWAT) have banned together to promote recycling. These clubs encourage families and staff to recycle used cell phones and printer ink cartridges. These items are being collected in rooms A103 & B109. Student Council promotes the collection and Computer Club inventories the items and packs them for shipping. Our school receives cash back for many of the items we recycle. Please ask your families and friends to participate with us to help keep our world a little more green!

*Student Council also promotes paper recycling in our school.

SWAT Team (Computer Club)

Students Working to Advance Technology will hold its first meeting of the school year on Oct. 15, 2008 in room A204. Please have your ride here at 4pm promptly for pick-up.

An application is required for this club. Students must maintain their grades to participate.

Sponsor: Mrs. Deininger

The ultimate goal for students serving as S.W.A.T. Team members is to:

  • assist teachers and students as technology is infused into classroom experiences.
  • serve as guides and mentors for both their fellow students and teachers regarding technology applications.
  • attend training sessions to build technology capacity.
  • encourage collaboration among students and teachers by performing the following roles:
    • Computer Buddies - assist students and teachers with application programs.
    • Internet Researchers - assist teachers with Internet research.
    • Tech Troopers - trouble shoot problems, clean computers, replace ink cartridges

This club meets on Tuesdays after school from October through May. Please have rides here at 4:00pm for pick up. Students should listen for cancellations during the morning announcements.

It's a Book Club! But not an ordinary book club.

The TR - FBI finds intriguing things about books - like animated conversation, wacky activities, and sensational service projects.

Yearbook

The Timber Ridge Yearbook Club meets once a month. The Yearbook Club gives you the opportunity to capture the memories of the school year as you create your school yearbook. This includes:

  • Choosing the yearbook cover and theme
  • Taking pictures at school event
  • Choosing the pictures that are entered in the yearbook
  • Being the first students in your school to view the book when it arrives in May!
